PLANNING COMMISSION

The Planning Commission consists of eight members. Seven of the members are appointed by the City Council and one is a City Council member who serves as Council Liaison. The Council Liaison is not be a regular voting member of the Commission, but is a full voting member in the absence of a quorum of Commission members. Planning Commission members are appointed for three year terms, and hold office until their successors are appointed. 

The purpose of the Planning Commission is to issue recommendations to the City Council in the following areas:

  1. Applications for variance

  2. Applications for special use permit

  3. Applications for subdivision

  4. Applications for replat

  5. Applications for rezoning

  6. Revisions and amendments to the Zoning Code

  7. Revisions and amendments to the Subdivision Code

  8. Revisions and amendments to the Comprehensive Plan

  9. Revisions and amendments to the Land Use Plan

DEEPHAVEN PARK COMMITTEE

Responsibilities

The primary responsibility of the Park Committee is to issue recommendations to the City Council on the maintenance, appearance, repair and replacement, budgeting, and future improvements at:

a) Public parks
b) Public beaches
c) Public trails
d) Recreational facilities and programs
e) Establishes rules and regulations on the use of park and recreational facilities as the Committee deems necessary and proper to promote the public use and preservation of park lands.

Membership

The Park Committee consists of seven members appointed by the Council.  A majority of voting members constitutes a quorum.  A member missing three consecutive regularly scheduled meetings or four regularly scheduled meetings within a calendar year will be reviewed for continued membership.  Board members may be removed by a three-fifths (3/5) vote of the Council.  A member is appointed for a term of three (3) years and may serve for two terms of office.

Meetings

The Committee elects one member to serve as the chair for a term of one year.  The City Administrator acts as the Secretary of the Park Committee, but is not a member. The Committee meets at least once a month on the first Tuesday of each month.
